From a very early age, Kaylan had a creative imagination and knew God created her to be a storyteller. So when she left for college in 1998 she didn’t know exactly how He wanted this gift to play out in her life. She asked, he answered. In 2002, she left Ouachita Baptist University with a degree in Mass Communications in hand, a divine calling to church communications, and several freelance writing jobs tucked under her belt. This took her into her next adventure at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where she graduated in May 2005 with a Master of Arts degree in Communications.

Since then, Kaylan has found several outlets to tell the stories of others and expand her writing through various staff positions in churches (Prestonwood Baptist Church and Sugar Creek Baptist Church) and freelance writing opportunities (LifeWay Christian Resources, Baptist Press, Crossroads Magazine, TEXAN News Journal, Starpointe Magazine, Insight for Living, Moody Bible Institute, and more).

Today, Kaylan serves as the Editorial Manager (a fancy title for writer and editor) in the Communications Ministry at Brentwood Baptist Church in Brentwood, Tennessee. She enjoys sticking her hands in creative writing projects (professionally and personally), building relationships with people, collecting and listening to good music, and frequenting local coffee shops. Originally from Texas, she currently makes her home in Nashville, Tennessee.
